Dr. Van Laerhoven is a planetary scientist and educator. She has significant experience talking about astronomy to a variety of audiences (children through seniors) in a variety of formats (lectures, Q&A, TV/radio, etc). She gained her Ph.D. from the Department of Planetary Sciences at the University of Arizona, with her research concentrating on long term changes in the orbits of planets. Dr. Van Laerhoven has also earned a B.Ed. from the University of British Columbia, concentrating on teaching physics and mathematics. She is a member of the Yukon Centre.
