Asteroid (9279) Seager

Sara Seager Sara Seager (b. 1971) was born and grew up in Toronto, Canada. Among her first memories is a trip to a “star party” with her father, to see the moon through a telescope—spectacular! Seager graduated from Jarvis Collegiate Institute, and studied at the University of Toronto. Seager is a professor of physics and planetary science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. An expert and textbook editor in the field of exoplanets, she is also dedicated to innovative and satellite technologies for exoplanet transit and asteroid detections.

Professor Seager was nominated an honorary member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada on 2013-03-23 and Leiden University will confer an honorary doctorate on Professor Seager during the celebration of the university’s Dies Natalis on 2024-02-08.
